Outdoor chairs pattern added at Stitching Cards

A pattern featuring two outdoor chairs in the style of Adirondack chairs or Muskoka chairs, on a beach, has been added to the Stitching Cards collection.

The forerunner to today’s Adirondack chair was designed by Thomas Lee in 1903. He was on holiday in Westport, New York, in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, and needed outdoor chairs for his summer home. The name Muskoka was adopted from the municipality of Muskoka, Ontario, a cottage country area north of Toronto. Adirondack chairs have become popular as outdoor seating at cafés because the flat armrests can be used to support food and drinks, making it possible to provide individual seating without tables.

The pattern size is 152 mm x 104 mm (6 x 4½ inches).

Ladybird pattern added at Stitching Cards

A pattern featuring two ladybird beetles on leaves has been added to the Stitching Cards collection.

Coccinellidae is a family of beetles, known variously as ladybirds (UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, some parts of Canada and the US), or ladybugs (North America). Scientists increasingly prefer the names ladybird beetles or lady beetles as these insects are not true bugs. Lesser-used names include God’s cow, ladycock, lady cow, and lady fly.

The pattern size is 152 mm x 104 mm (6 x 4½ inches).
